Tasting Note: Canalicchio di Sopra, Brunello di Montalcino 2012
Aromas of cedar, rosemary, toasted almonds, dried cherry, fig, sweet tobacco, lavender, cassis, olive grove, and terracotta. Supported with vibrant acidity, fairly high alcohol, and a finish that lingered allowing new flavors to emerge. This wine is still growing and is beginning to drink beautiful but will easily continue developing over the next 8 years.
“Like a foggy morning in the woods…”

A gorgeous producer on the north side of the town of Montalcino, Canalicchio di Sopra makes incredible, long-lived Brunellos with more floral notes than many of the producers to the south. We had a beautiful visit here back in 2019, when they welcomed over 30 of our Fellows at the Cortona Sessions for a private tasting in their barrel room!
